He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Szweda and Genevieve Szweda (Nowak); his siblings, Jerry Szweda (Monica), Richard Szweda (June) and Dorothy Dyer (Bill); and his siblings-in-law, Al Mackowiak (Betty), Joseph Mackowiak (Virginia), Clement Mackowiak (Mary Jane), Mary Mackowiak and Henrietta Gerbasich (Victor).

He is survived by: his children, Chris Szweda (Rita), Cheryl Watford (Mike) and Colleen Lane (Todd); his grandchildren, Ashley Stoffl, Melissa Horvath (Paul), Kyle Watford (Hannah), Aubrie Lares (Brian) and Evan Lane (Kyla); his great grandchild Lucy Stoffl; and his grandchildren, Marin, Nora, Clementine Horvath, Alaina and Maddyn Lares.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Pius X Catholic Church (52553 N Fir Rd, Granger, IN 46530). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
