He was predeceased by: his mother Frances C. Herendeen; his wife Kathleen Herendeen (Savage); his son Timothy J. Herendeen; and his sister Phyllis Koscielny. He is survived by: his father Ralph D. Herendeen; his children, Barbara M. Michalos (Victor) of South Bend, IN, Michele L. Munoz of Lakeland, FL and David Ty Herendeen of Mishawaka, IN; his brother Herbert T. Herendeen (Mary Ann) of South Bend, IN; and his friend Michele A. Foster of South Bend, IN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
