He was predeceased by: his father Raymond C. Greenlee. He is survived by: his mother Verna Alice Greenlee (Siokora); his sons, Joshua R. Greenlee (Nicholas) and Nicholas T. Greenlee (Morgan); and his brothers, Stephen R. Greenlee (Melinda), Joseph P. Greenlee (Ashley Borens) and Daniel W. Greenlee. He is also survived by four nephews and one niece.

With John being a lifelong educator, his family kindly suggest memorial contributions to St. Thomas School.
