He was predeceased by: his father Louis Smilth; his siblings, Donald Smith and Shirley Franklin; and his nephews, Danny Ellison and Mike Ellison.

He is survived by: his children, Angie Vicsek (Matt Storin) and Virgil Creech; his grandsons, Kyle Vicsek (Haylee) and Tyler Vicsek; his great grandchildren, Owen and Paisley Vicsek; his sister Brenda Butcher (Tommy); and his niece Jennifer Ellison.
