He was predeceased by: his parents, John Akens and Marion Mackin (McCrea); his stepfather Robert Mackin; his brother Robert N. Akens; and his stepsiblings, MaryBeth Mackin and John Mackin (Sue).
He is survived by: his sons, Michael P. Aken (Mayu) and Christopher J. Akens; his sister Susan D. Feldton (Robert); his stepsister JoAnn Mackin; his brother John J. Akens (Ann); and his stepbrothers, Patrick Mackin (Nancy) and Christopher Mackin.
