He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Mead and Nettie Mead (Ortman); his siblings, Marilyn Gardner and Harold Mead; his wife Joyce Ann Kintz; and his daughter Susan Spann.

He is survived by: his siblings, Darleen Mohasic (Anthony), John Mead (Janet), Donald Mead and Denny Mead; and his children, Tammy Reinsel (Jay), Roxanne Morrow, Richard L. Mead II, Ricky Mead and Lani Jo Radcliff.
