He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Elizabeth Adeline Whitinger (Priebe); his sons, Scott and Dan; and his siblings, John William Whitinger, Mary Ellen Lievensee, Jean Reiter and Betty Ann Chrzan.
He is survived by: his children, David Kent Whitinger (Carol) and Susann Elaine Weaver (Dennis); his sisters, Nancy Crawford and Connie Joyce Baird; his grandchildren, Amanda Hanson (Ben), Joseph Weaver (Megan), Rebecca Arnold (Joel), Matthew Weaver (Kaleigh), Catherine Hitzfield (Brooks), Ben Weaver (Kaitlyn), Chris Weaver and Jesse Whitinger (Elena); and his great grandchildren, Ruth Whitinger, Ezra Whitinger, Maverick Arnold, Reagan Arnold, Addisyn Arnold, Remington Arnold, Natalie Weaver, Lilly Weaver, Everlie Jo Weaver, Josie Hanson, Sadie Hanson, Ramie Hanson, Titus Hanson, Annisyn Hanson, Logan Weaver, Reece Weaver and Thomas Hitzfield.
