He was predeceased by : his parents, Virgil Ward and Bessie Ward Sr. (Grissom). He is survived by : his children, Kenneth Ward (Lynda) and Tina Sinkiewicz (Tom); his wife Alvena Ward; his son Darrell Ward; his great grandchild Zaelyn; and his siblings, Donna King, Carl and Robert Ward. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
