He was predeceased by: his father Robert Paul; his brother Melvin Gardner; and his nephew Michael Gardner. He is survived by: his wife Carla S. Gardner; his children, Richie Gardner (Leigh), William Gardner (Lisa Lloyd) and Christina Gardner (Doug Brown "Brownie"); his stepchildren, Natalie Redd and Christopher Flynn (Hayley); his brother James R. Gardner; his grandchildren, Shelby Reno, Dylan Gorman and Chase Gardner; his stepgrandchildren, Carly Redd, Ben Redd, Hayley May Flynn, Annabella Flynn and Alexandria Flynn; his great grandchildren, Maddux and Peyton Reno; and his nieces, Rita McCallister (Bob), Lisa Gardner and Lori Gardner. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
