With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Connie E. Ross of Syracuse, Indiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 18, 2025 at the age of 79. Though Connie may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Connie touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John F. Slachta and Wanda Slachta (Jedrzejak); and her brother Norbert Slachta. She is survived by: her children, Rosetta Scellato of Chesterton, Dawn Kuizin (Andy) of Chicago, Wanda Straka of Chicago, Joe Herrera (Elizabeth) of Chicago and Eugene Herrera (Debbie) of Chicago; and her brother Jerome "Lad" Slachta of Chicago. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
