He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Scheler Newton; his parents, Lloyd Starkey and Edith Starkey; his sister Betty Hilgers (Knobeloch); his brother-in-law Charles Knobeloch; and his nephew Larry Knobeloch.
He is survived by: his children, Phillip Starkey of Bloomington, Steve Casey of Liberty, Tracy Stuteville (Jim) of Evansville and Jon Starkey (Melissa Keller) of Everton; and his grandchildren, Jamie Stuteville (Luis Hull) of Evansville, Desiree Briner (Scott) of Texas and Jon Starkey (Amanda) of Connersville. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
