He was predeceased by: his father Leo Nichols; his granddaughters, Kyra Knotts and Jessica Nichols; his siblings-in-law, Luther Phillips, Eddie Bruce, Chuck Owens, Donna Felix and Robin Espinosa; and his nephews, Carmon Felix and Justin Nichols.
He is survived by: his wife Theresa Nichols; his children, Dustin Bryan (Angie) of North Carolina, Thomas Nichols, Jr. (Venus) of Illinois, Shawn Ruiz of Laredo, TX, Jessie Nichols of Tennyson, Tee Jay Knotts (Dennis) of Lynnville and Sara Hernandez (Martin) of Laredo, TX; and his siblings, Lenny Nichols (Rose) of Flordia, Ronnie Nichols (Sue) of Illinois, Mike Nichols (Paula) of Illinois, Cliff Wooldridge (Bekah) of Kentucky, Donna Phillips of Illinois, Joanna Roop (Mike) of Illinois, Cindy Bruce of Tennyson and Letha Hunt (David) of Tennyson. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
