She was predeceased by: her parents, Anson Smith and Merle Smith; her sister Marley Thomas; her husband Gary Black; and her son Kurt Black.

She is survived by: her son Dr. Steven Black (Linda) of Sullivan; her grandson Neil Black (Michelle) of St. Louis; her daughter Penny Black; her granddaughters, Megan Buzzard and Rachel Black of Atlanta, Georgia.; her daughter Angie West (Les) of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Emma and Fletcher; and her daughter-in-law Joanne Black of Thousand Oaks, California..
