He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis H. Mitchell, Sr. and Dorothy H. Peteet Mitchell. He is survived by: his brothers, Francis Mitchell, Jr. and Thomas Mitchell; his nephews, Jim Mitchell and Francis H. Mitchell III; his great-niece Sarah; and his great-nephews, Jonny, Austin, Kaden, Logan and Alex.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Terre Haute Symphony or Good Shepherd Church.
