He was predeceased by: his parents, Pauline Hankins and Richard D. Hankins. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Hankins (Kinslow) of Thorntown; his brother Gregory Hankins of Cape Coral, Florida; his children, Laurie Potter (Pat) of Thorntown, Richard Hankins (Sharon) of Kansas City, Julie Martin of Thorntown, Jill Brown (Mike) of Thorntown and Amanda Hankins of Thorntown; and his grandchildren, Melissa Cummins, Alicia Stock, Tiffany Stock, Josh Potter, Nathan Potter, Katie Potter, Rachel Shollar, Emily Needles and Mason West. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Myers & Hunt Mortuary (116 W Plum St, Thorntown, IN 46071). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chicken Nugget and Gang Animal Rescue Service (located in Boone County), as well as Gideons International who help distribute Bibles worldwide.
