He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel J. Whitworth and Bessie Lee Whitworth (Russell); his wife Dorothy Christine Temple; his daughter Merry Ricketts; and his brothers, Tommy and Carl Whitworth.

He is survived by: his children, Ann Johnson (Curt) of Lakeside, David Whitworth (Amanda) of Tetersburg and Nancy Dow of Tipton; his grandchildren, Bre Robinson, Sarah Gonsalves, Ricky Crawford, Jonathan Crawford, Danielle Johnson, Alyvia Whitworth and Zach Jung; and his great grandchild Madison Gonsalves.
