He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Charles and Lois Ann Mappes (Smith); and his brother James Mappes. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Mappes (Markiel); his children, Mitchell Mappes and Mallory Volk (John); his siblings, Mark Mappes (Karen), Debbie Watkins (Steve), Nick Mappes (Joyce), Sharon Swhear (John) and Dianne Williams (Chuck); his granddaughter Wrenley Volk; his pets, Daisy, Rocco and Max; and his godchildren, Kody Kavanaugh and Katie Mis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 27th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services (1458 S Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46225). A celebration of life was held on Monday, April 27th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Indy Animals in support of the new southside animal shelter.
