He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel O'Connell and Susan O'Connell; his wife Isabel Agnes Marshall; his siblings, Lyons Daniel O'Connell, Eugene O'Connell and Elizabeth O'Connell Rongers; his aunt Marie; and his grandson Robert Allen O'Connell.
He is survived by: his children, Susan O'Connell, David O'Connell (Kathy), Helen Hochstetler (John) and Daniel O'Connell; his grandchildren, Megan, Chad, Elizabeth, Thomas and Declan; Marie Stropke. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Catholic Church (1855 Harrison Blvd, Valparaiso, IN 46385). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim's name may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
