He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sommers and Bertha Sommers (Taylor); and his wife Martha Mae Domer. He is survived by: his children, Alan Sommers (Karen) of Chesterton, IN, Gail Dedrick of Schererville, IN and Mark Sommers (Anne) of Tucson, AZ; his grandchildren, Stephanie Stout (Gene), Steven Dedrick, Brian Dedrick (Amanda), Mike Sommers, Mathew Sommers, Matthew Noll (Cathy) and Meredith Luther (Kyle); his siblings, Merle Sommers (Rebecca) of Goshen, IN and Lavera Helmuth (Paul) of Louisville, OH; his close friend Shirley Kneifel; and his son-in-law Doug Dedrick. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John's United Church (225 W Lincoln Ave, Chesterton, IN 46304).
