He was predeceased by: his wife Bertha Schuffert; his daughter Sharon Schuffert; his great grandchild Imogen Pryor; his parents, Michael Schuffert and Sara Schuffert; and his siblings, Hilda Bilek and Henry Schuffert.

He is survived by: his children, Carol Nowatzke (Daniel), Janice Beedle (William), Richard Schuffert (Kimberly) and Donald Schuffert (Holly); and his siblings, Willard Schuffert (Ethel) and Betty Morgan. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

Donations may be given in Richard's name to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
