It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sharon Marie Troxel Emerson Swihart of Valparaiso, Indiana, who passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harriet Marie Headley (Robert W. Troxel) and Steel; her sister Roberta Croft; and her former husband James L. Emerson. She is survived by: her children, Christa M. Emerson (Brian Foutch) and Robert W. Emerson (Beth); her grandchildren, Troy Borlick (Katie), Kade Borlick, Iris and Hazel Emerson; her niece Carol Croft (Dan Killingbeck); her stepdaughters, Amanda Thibault (Rob) and A'Lisa Swihart; and her stepgranddaughter Makayla Rodriguez.
She managed and invested the city's funds, served on the Board of Public Works, preserved and digitized historic records, and made countless contributions to the city she loved.
