He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Cardinal and Norah H. Meyer Cardinal; his daughter Sara Jo; and his brother Richard (BarbaraRoellgen). He is survived by: his sons, Ed (Susie) of Monroe City and Deacon Ron (Amy) of Vincennes; his grandsons, Ryan (Jenny) of Carmel, Larry of Nashville, TN, Aaron (Tara) and Jordanall of Monroe City; his great grandchildren, Grace, Ella, Jackson and Grayson; his nieces, Susan (Don Boyles), Nora (Tom Horrall), Janet (Barry Devine) and Mary Ellen; his nephew Patrick "Sam"; and his great-nephew Richard "Rick" Horrall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent Cemetery Fund or Good Samaritan Hospice.
