He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter J. Barkes, Sr. and Hyacinthe Barkes (Turner) of Mishawaka, Indiana.; and his siblings, Walter Barkes, Jr. and Virginia Kincaid (Barkes). He is survived by: his wife Dorine L. Durham; and his son Richard Lee Barkes (Mara Flecker).
