He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Ahrens and Irene Ahrens (Nyman); his wife Rae VanVlyman; and his children-in-law, Ed Witowski and Audrey.

He is survived by: his children, Bill Kausal (Cathy), Carlene Kausal Witowski and Mike Kausal; his grandsons, Nick (Leah), Michael and Zachary; and his great grandchildren, Milo and Mia.
