He was predeceased by: his former wife Sylvia; his sisters, Patricia Griswold and Mary Griswold Thomas (Amos); his brother-in-law Amos Thomas (Mary); and his nephew Dr. Mark Thomas (Jean).
He is survived by: his wife Gertrude "Trudy"; his stepsons, Richard Czapski (Joy), David Czapski (Lyn) and Mark Czapski (Patricia); and his sibling's children, Amy Thomas (Brad), Andrew Thomas, David Thomas (Lea Ann), Nancy Van Allen (Frank) and Ben Thomas (Susan). He is also survived by 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Eline Funeral Home (11824 Reisterstown Rd, Reisterstown, MD 21136). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (63 Sacred Heart Ln, Glyndon, MD 21071). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery (6515 Boston St, Baltimore, MD 21224).
He will be remembered not only for his contributions to music education but also for the warmth and kindness he brought to all those he encountered.
