He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Steimel and Agnes Steimel; his former wife Janet Steimel (Brocksmith); and his siblings, Robert Steimel, Norma Cary, Patricia Clark, Betty Stephens, Bill Steimel, Chuck Steimel, Richard Steimel, Jack Steimel, Sam Steimel, Margie Steimel and Maretta Early.
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Steimel; and his sons, Brad Steimel (Jan), Jeff Steimel, Rodney Steimel (Dawn), Shane Steimel (Kristen) and Blaine Steimel (Nicah). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home (2020 State St, Washington, IN 47501). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Our Lady of Hope (315 NE 3rd St, Washington, IN 47501). A burial will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Bethel Cemetery.
