He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Newman and Alma Newman (Roberts); and his siblings, Frances Watkins (Bill), David Newman and Carolyn Willinger.

He is survived by: his son Eric L. Newman of Madison; his brother Gary Newman of Jeffersonville; and his sister-in-law Marty Newman of Lexington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
