He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Layton and Marietta Layton (Hessler); his wife Betty Ruth Bussberg; his daughter Judy Cheryl Layton; and his brother James Earl Layton.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert Earl Layton of Westport, Anthony Wade Layton of Westport and Kevin Michael Layton (Jill) of Franklin; his sisters, Betty Gatewood of Westport and Helen Graue of Greensburg; and his grandchildren, Isaac, Luke and Samantha Layton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Westport Masonic Lodge through the funeral home.
