Though John may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those John touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Mentink and Florence Willmes; his wife Cynthia Wynkoop; and his sister Patricia Zisoff. He is survived by: his siblings, Tim Mentink (Marlene) and Cathy Trebs (Bob); and his stepchildren, Randy Ritchie, Mark Ritchie (Jenelle) and Chris Ritchie (Jenny). He is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Boersma Funeral Home (90 E Grove St, Wheatfield, IN 46392). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 440 of DeMotte or to VNA Hospice.
