She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Wesley Hawn and Sarah Catherine Hawn (Temples); her husband Sheldon Eugene Brown; her daughters, Mary West and Velma Dawson; her grandchildren, Tammy Reece, Loretta Archer, Glenn Tomas III, Steve Moore and Charles Townsend; her siblings, Roland, Harold, Charles Hawn, Kathaleen Frost and Delores Frost; and her son-in-law Earl Townsend.

She is survived by: her daughter Ruth A. Townsend. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 22 great great grandchildren.
