He is survived by: his children, Lia O'Connor (Robert) and Michael Zierk; his goddaughter Carrie Chidalek; his grandchildren, Hudson Kulas, Jesse O'Connor and Declan O'Connor; his nephew Andrew Kulas (Kelly); his niece Katy DiPippa (Joe); his sister Rose Kussy (Jimi); and his close friends, David and Maryann Murphy.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre (606 E 113th Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church (7667 E 109th Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in John's name to the Lowell Indiana Fire Department for the Project Lifesavers Program.
