He was predeceased by : his parents, Abner Harger and Celeste Harger (Adkins); and his daughter Mary. He is survived by : his children, Shonda Haygood (Shane), Dennis Welchman and Carla Spitznagle (Dan); and his grandchildren, Nick Burris, Cameron Spitznagle, Shelbi Mang (Dillon), Zach Welchman-Robinson, Conner Spitznagle and Kiley Haygood. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
