He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennis D. Hester and Marianne D. Brietling Biery; his stepfather Jack Biery; and his father-in-law David Poole. He is survived by: his wife Rosanne Hester of Zionsville; his children, Caleb Hester of Germany, Jake Hester (Natalie) of Zionsville, Sam Hester of Zionsville and Caroline Hester of Zionsville; his sisters, Denise Bushman (Jeff) of Frankfort, Nancy Timmons (Rick) of Kirklin and Angela Jones (Jonathon) of Frankfort; his brothers-in-law, Garry Poole (Michelle) of Colorado and Jim Poole of Chicago; and his mother-in-law Barbara Poole of Florida. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
