With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Mills of Abilene, Kansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 21, 2025 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Schweitzer and Josephine Schweitzer (Erichsen); her spouse Lee Mills of Chapman; her sisters, Bonnie Freeman and Joyce Welshans; her brothers-in-law, Herman and William; her brother Jay Schweitzer; and her children-in-law, Deb Mills and Wayne McZegle.
She is survived by: her children, Susan McZegle of Enid, OK, Leanne Mills (Geoffrey Houser), Melvin, Talmage, Randy, Larry (Kathy) and Kent Mills (Sarah) of Chapman; her grandsons, Bill, Travis (Kristen), Andrew (Heather), Mitchem, Ryan, Jared (Bobbi), Nicholas, Kevin, Kyle Mills and Dustin Westover; her great grandchildren, Colby, Carly, Chloe, Ellery, Sully and Amelia; and her sister-in-law Wava Schweitzer.
Memorials may be given to Dickinson County Home Health & Hospice or The Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.
