He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Nelson and Rausa Nelson (Hale); his wife Betty Wright; and his siblings, John Michler, Melvia Paulson, Margaret Woods and Bill Nelson.
He is survived by: his sons, Dorin Nelson of Marquette, KS and Darin Nelson (Teresa) of Galva, KS; and his brother Sheldon Nelson of Salina, KS. He is also survived by 6 Stepchildren, 4 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild and many step-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
