He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Handke and Emma Handke (Spear); his wife Frances Navinskey; his daughters-in-law, Kathy Handke and Angela Handke; and his siblings, Adella Handke, Erma Bolick, June Kautz, Frances Williamson and James Handke.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Handke, Wayne Handke (Terri), Robert James Handke, Glen Handke (Jennie), Phil Handke, Peggy Lutz (Ron) and Karen Birkinsha (Nelson). He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home (208 N 5th St, Atchison, KS 66002). Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Patrick's Church (19286 234th Rd, Atchison, KS 66002).
Memorials are suggested to the Atchison County Community Schools Education Fund in care of the funeral home.
