With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas Allen Apel of Augusta, Kansas, born in Great Bend, Kansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 9, 2024 at the age of 69. He was predeceased by: his parents, Yvonne Ruth (Renfro) and Harry Charles Apel; and his brother Duane Apel. He is survived by: his wife Patty Apel (Burns); his sons, Douglas Apel, II (Jennifer Jester) of Leon and Dustin Apel (Ashley) of Augusta; his siblings, Mike Apel (Tonie) of Augusta, Mark Apel of Wichita, Denise Pence of Augusta and Melinda Leonard (Darrell) of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren, Gage, Brendon, Ashlyn, Jali, Jada, Daltin, Brock and Denver; his stepgrandchildren, Mason, Micah and Maverick; and his great grandchild Kamryn.
