He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Schmitz and Mary Ann Schmitz (Bergman); his son-in-law Eric Holthaus; his brothers, Julian, Donald, Kenneth and Benedict Schmitz; and his brother-in-law Glynn Gallagher.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Stallbaumer; his children, Lisa Ganstrom (Jimmy), Tina Palic (Kevin), Ryan Schmitz Leawood (Cindy) and Sara Kramer (Bob); his grandchildren, Collin, Camron Feldkamp, Nia, Henley Holthaus, Bradee Stuke, Taryn, Mya, Kyler Ganstrom, Gage Palic, Alayna, Lydia Schmitz, Keira, Leighton, Eve and Boyd Kramer; his siblings, Marita Gallagher of Lee Summitt, MO, Regis Schmitz (Mary Jane), Roseann Mitchell (Don), Edna Kuhlman (John) of Tecumseh, KS, Evelyn Heinen (Larry) of Seneca, Gilbert Schmitz (Deb) of Seneca and Kathy Heinen (Dan) of Seneca; Virginia Schmitz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be given to Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, St. Mary's Parish or Cemetery, and Lifecare.
