She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin D. Smart and Hazel M. Smart (Gauby); her husband Wayne Emmett Byers; her daughter Kathleen Swanson; her grandson Kevin Byers; and her siblings, Margaret Sweeney and Alvin Smart Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Wayne Byers Jr. (Patty) of Seneca, KS, Susan Alexander (Gary) of Whitney, TX, David Byers (Kate) of Beattie and Mary Holle (Ryan) of Manhattan, KS; her son-in-law Don Swanson of Beattie; her sister-in-law Delores Byers of Springdale, AR; and her grandchildren, Dustin Rutledge of Whitney, TX, David W Byers of Topeka, KS, Brian Byers of Mount Zion, IL, Daniel Byers of Baldwin City, KS, Lynn Swanson of Marysville, KS, Ben Byers of Marysville, KS, Anna Suther of Westmoreland, KS, Paul Byers of Marysville, KS, Jacob Holle of Manhattan, KS and Jordyn Hilgers of Shawnee, KS. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kinsley Mortuary (1006 Broadway St, Marysville, KS 66508). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Beattie Union Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the Beattie community.
