It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joe Elwin Mitchell of Benton, Kansas, who passed away on September 26, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lowell P Mitchell and Lyndall E Mitchell (Smith); and his siblings, Doyle Mitchell and Betty Newsome. He is survived by: his son Jay Eldon (Diana) of Addy, WA; his wife Glennie Elaine (Hadduck) of Benton, KS; his daughter Jennie E Brightup (Kevin) of Andover, KS; his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Mitchell (Doyle) of Pueblo West, CO and JD Newsome (Betty) of Pueblo West, CO; his brother Don Mitchell (Sandy) of Alva, OK; his siblings-in-law, Tom Hadduck (Kathy) of Aurora, CO, Sharon Newman (Hadduck) of Colorado Springs, CO and Jerry Hadduck (Katy) of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren, Geoffrey, Meghan (Jesse), Trevor (Becca), Nate and Noelle; and his great grandchild Winry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Benton Church (14300 SW 20th St, Benton, KS 67017). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in Joe's name to either: The Benton Church or to Christ Church Wichita.
