He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Stones and Henrietta Stones (Steward); his wife Ardith Nadine Craig; his daughter Leatta Sue Stones; and his sons-in-law, Donald Ridder and David Beasley.

He is survived by: his daughters, Judy (Rich Steinbrink) of Garden City and Gaynelle Beasley of Garden City; his brother Harold (Patty Stones) of Topeka, Kansas; his grandchildren, Brynn (Jim Shellenberger), Melissa (Alex Stofer), Mekayla (Dustin Petrus) and Britny Sweeney; and his great grandchildren, Keely, Kambri, Kaia, Isaiah, Kolby and Brody.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials given to the Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center Library or to the First United Methodist Church, both in care of the funeral home.
