Evalyn L. Knapp Obituary
Evalyn L. Knapp, age 93, passed away on April 15, 2023. At the time of her death, she was residing at her daughter's home in Bonner Springs, KS. A celebration of life service will be held at a future date in July, to be announced by the family.
Evalyn was born in Mount Ayr, Iowa on 12-19-1929. She was the eighth of ten children born to Burr and Bernice Caldwell of Redding, IA.
Living in Ringgold County, she attended various schools within the community. At the age of ten, she rejoiced at becoming a Christian. She married Merton Knapp of Redding on March 22, 1947. They had five children: Connie (Robert) Dary of Chandler AZ; Donna Collins of Chandler; Cindy (Dwaine) Pant of Bonner Springs KS; Tyler (Melonie) Knapp of Shawnee KS; and Lori Watson, formerly of California, MO. She enjoyed her 12 grandchildren and also had many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Along with being a farmer's wife, her many interests included refinishing furniture, gardening, sewing, arts and crafts, playing the piano, and traveling.
Evalyn and Merton moved to Shawnee, KS in the Spring of 1982 where they became active members of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. Most recently she attended Elm Grove Baptist Church of Bonner Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, her husband Merton, and her daughter Lori Watson. Also, three sons-in-law, a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
