James will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny McDowell and Ruby McDowell (Rowden); and his sons, Ricky and Ronnie McDowell. He is survived by: his wife Lyvonne McDowell; his son Randy McDowell (Robin); and his daughter-in-law Cindy McDowell of Fairmount Township. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and many, many friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Alden Harrington Funeral Home (214 Oak St, Bonner Springs, KS 66012). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
