He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard H. Taggart and Margaret Taggart (Parham); his brother Bruce Taggart; and his grandson Jake Van Landingham. He is survived by: his wife Janet Marie Dolan; his daughters, Rory Van Landingham (Barry) of Houston and Lacy Hammack (Josh) of Russell, Kansas; his sisters, Connie Taggart of Shawnee and Phyllis Shipley (Steve) of Gladston, Missouri; and his stepsiblings, Lonnie Hill (Annie), Bill Hill, Tammy Vega Pueblo (Joe) and Teresa Hill (Ty) of Ellis, Kansas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
