He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Dayton Joseph and Marguerite Heinzle Simmons; his wife Nancy Jean Goetz; his sons, Dayton Simmons (Jess) of Edgerton, MO, Justin Simmons (Becca) of Blue Springs, MO and Elijah Simmons (Corinne) of Overland Park, KS; his siblings, Margaret Hapgood (Curtis) of Merriam, KS, Joanna Treas (Chip) of Clay Center, KS, Dayton Simmons (Renee) of Georgetown, TX and Bob Simmons of Herndon, VA; his stepbrothers, Craig Eustice (Joan) of San Antonio, FL, Brad Eustice (Nancy) of Edmonds, WA and Judd Eustice (Monica) of Taipei, Taiwan; and his siblings, Susan Simmons, Joseph "Pat" Simmons and Tom Simmons.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Life Care Center of Ottawa, Kansas and sent in care of the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home & Crematory at P.O. Box #43, Lebo, Kansas 66856.
