With sadness, we share the passing of John Michael Reid of Chanute, Kansas. John Michael, born on May 31, 1946, passed away on October 21, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Conrad and Clara Maurine Reid (Shadel); his sister Patricia Herrmann; his brother-in-law Steve Herrmann; and his niece Erin Barrett.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Reid of Chanute; his children, Amy Pavlik (Jerry), Megan Reid and Matt Reid (D. Dee); his grandchildren, Cade, Halle, Jase Pavlik, Bella, Miller, Sutton and Blythe Reid; his sister Ann; his brother-in-law Harold Barrett; his brother Steve; and his sister-in-law Linda Reid. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (424 S Central Ave, Chanute, KS 66720). Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to the J. Michael Reid Memorial Fund in care of Home Savings Bank in Chanute.
