He was predeceased by: his parents, Thebert Gilstrap and Pearl Gilstrap (Coleman); and his wife Eleanor Gilstrap. He is survived by: his children, Denise Housel (Rick) of Cherryvale, Kansas, Cindy Van Cleave (Vernon) of Lenapah, Oklahoma and Michael Gilstrap (Greta) of Independence, Kansas; his sisters, Marlene Barker of Cherryvale and Karen Lynn Taylor of Independence, Kansas.; and his grandchildren, Jami Bryant, Dusty Housel, Heather Adney, Aaron Winkleman, Lindsey Garrow, Evan Winkleman, Garrett Gilstrap and Jenna Gilstrap. He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wickham Family Funeral Home - Cherryvale (216 E 4th St, Cherryvale, KS 67335). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
