He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Hestand and Christine Hestand; and his mother-in-law Mary Shepard. He is survived by: his children, Brandy Kessler (Hestand) of Cherryvale, Kansas, Michael Hestand II (Hannah Kauffman) of Joplin, Missouri and Todd Kessler of Cherryvale, Kansas; and his brother Marvin Hestand (Marilyn) of Cherryvale, Kansas. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wickham Family Funeral Home - Cherryvale (216 E 4th St, Cherryvale, KS 67335).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Hestand Memorial Scholarship and may be left with or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home.
