He is survived by: his wife Carol Bates (Stinson) of Viola; his sons, Dr. Brent Bates (Kay) of Sedalia, MO, Bryan Bates (Leslie) of Conway Springs and Douglas Bates (Micoli) of Norwich; his grandchildren, Jackson Bates, Talan Shinn (Ashlynn), Alyssa Pauly, Brandon Bates (Elise), Alaina Gibbs (Taylor), Raina Bates and Karli Bates; his great grandchildren, Tayven Shinn and Addison Bates; and his sister-in-law Donna Bates of Conway Springs.
