He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Barbara (Smith) and Joseph Stanchel Mildrexler; his sisters, Katherine "Kitty" and Josephine Ann "JoAnn"; his significant other Mella Jane Ziegenbalg; and his nephew Gregory Aultman.
He is survived by: his daughter Janie; his friend Dr. Max Pickerill; his close friend Shawna Petersen; his daughter Donella Mildrexler-Morris (Jack); his grandsons, Chris Weiss (Crysta) and Chase Weiss; his daughter Janella "Little Stinker" Mildrexler (Brian Gerstner); his grandson Maxwell Mildrexler-Gerstner; and his sibling's children, Joni Fawbush (Neil), Stan Kohn (Jayne) and Eric Kohn (Deb).
Joe was a significant leader in the establishment of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). For several years, he and Mella engaged with the RSVP community by working at the concession stand at the Thomas County Fair and by dressing up as Mr. and Mrs. Santa at the holiday party.
